I dont normally like to talk about my problems but this is MY blog and I need to let it out!!!!!!!
Hubby lost his job... yup. Just like that, no severance, NOTHING. All due to the good ol economy. Happy fricken Christmas to us-- nice, uh????

Let me give you a little back ground. Hubby was a CFO for 8 years and was let go after we had just built our dream home. Of course no severance with that one either. He workd his ass off to keep us afloat so we didnt lose anything. We are still behind from that which was 5 years ago and now its hit us again. He had just taken this new position 4 months ago--it was like a dream come true that he no longer had to commute and hour each way. I seriously don't understand why? He is such hard worker and so dedicated to his job and the places he worked. I am stay at home mom and now we have no income except for the respite I do and a little part time job. We cant make a house payment or car payment with that. My heart is broken for my kids as well as their Christmas is shot...... I know they will understand on the outside, but on the inside I am sure they will be heartbroken... my heart is already broke...............Oh and I get to blame the democrats on this one!

Oh Amy! I am so sorry!

I don't know if it will help, but my dad lost his job for more than a year when I was in 9th - 10th grades. I don't remember the cut backs (although we did have to cut back!) I do remember that I got to see my dad so much more and how much I loved that. So, good can come out of this for your kids.

I know this is going to be hard on you. Please let me know if I can do anything to help.

I know all too well from wence you speak. You are in my sincerest of prayers...as you know, those can be very powerful..if ya believe in that sort o' thing!:)

Perhaps it's time for an old-fashioned do-it-yourself christmas? I was looking at the meager funds too thinking, remember when we used to cut open brown grocery bags, cut designs into potatoes and stamp the bags with trees and angels ? Sometimes I get all caught up in the commercialism and forget that the simplicity of the it all. Jesus was born in the most frigid and meagerest of circumstances. It's those humble fearful beginnings that I cling to so dearly. I remind my kids of it when they don't get what they want. Since we had no job the last two christmases, that story's been told quite a bit :0) I know that doesn't ease the worry nor the burden Amy but perhaps it'll help shape some perspective and add a spirit of the season sort of twist?

    Love you all, Kitty

What a discouraging thing to deal with...I don't blame you at all for letting it out. And how else would we know to be praying if you didn't share? Praying for blessings and direction for you.

I just found your blog. Your daughter is precious! I am hoping that we get my daughter to stand without assistance by Christmas.

So sorry to hear about your husband's job. Unfortunately this has happened to us twice! Both times before Christmas. Once while I was pregnant with my middle son who was born in Jan, so we were sweating it. We made it through Christmas by making several homemade gifts. It wasn't easy, but my oldest thought that it was great.

Good luck to you and your husband. I hope that you don't mind, I will pop back in again.

Oh no Amy...and I remember reading that he didn't have to drive anymore and that was such a blessing. Any chance he could go back to the other company now that gas prices are down? I remember that commute being crazy though. Sending both of you hugs and prayers that something will come up soon. HUGS!!!
