Well, we are back from our Mayo clinic stay and we left there
with a much happier patient! I think he was really glad to have his family there and it cheered him up! Rylee made him a sign to decorate his room with, too, which he enjoyed!
My Father in law is hooked up to something called a V.A.C.
V.A.C is short for Vacuum Assisted Closure - VAC Therapy is a system that uses controlled
negative pressue (vacuum) to help promote wound healing. Clinical studies demonstrate
that the VAC helps remove infectioous materials & other fluids from the wound.

The VAC Therapy System consists of a computer-controlled therapy unit, canister,
sterile plastic tubing, foam dressing & clear VAC Drape. The foam dressing is inside his wound. One end of the tube is connected to the foam. The other
end of the tube is connected to the canister that connects to the VAC System. The
wound area is sealed with the clear VAC Drape, similar to a large bandage.
The VAC System pulls infectious materials & other fluids from his wound
through the tube & collect them inside the canister.
Dr. Schaff was in this morning and he thinks things look good. Arlo's wound is 1/3 of the size it was so that is encouraging news! The wound specialist will be in on Wednesday to determine what will be the next step. He does have an option of using a skin flap to close the wound which is a much faster healing process but that also means going UNDER again and Arlo is NOT for that! With that said, we are praying the V.A.C. keeps doing its job!
Mayson sure enjoyed her papa's bed. They played babies together and she also decided to take a snooze in his bed too!!

While at the hospital my MIL and FIL met a family with a little girl who was 14 months old. She was there for heart surgery and also was born with Down syndrome. Her name is Ruby Ann Joy and we had the pleasure of meeting them while up there. They had gone home but ended up coming back due to her getting fever. Poor baby. She is just a doll and we are so glad we got to meet her!!!
Oh , and its my birthday!! Happy birthday to me! We have been in a car all day so we plan to celebrate tomorrow!
