Having a child with down syndrome has been something very positive in our lives. Many families, have a hard time believing that, but its true. One of the huge impacts is our new family.. our Down Syndrome family. They have played such an important role in all our lives, Mine, my husbands, and our children's. I, personally , have made some of the best of friends and I wouldnt know what my life would be like without them! Unless you have a child with Down syndrome or another type of disability, I don't think you realize what we sometimes go through! These friends have been my support system.... they get it.
The Traveling Afghan is one way that is connecting us, our DS family, all over the world!!!! Mayson was the first one to be apart of it, love it, and pass it on. We have been able to watch it be shared with all our DS families. Its quite, amazing!!
My dear friend CJ, is the one that started all of this. Her beautiful red haired daughter, was her inspiration. Without her doing this, many families may not of ever gotten that "DS family" feel! Something that is very important when it comes to raising a child with DS.
I feel so privileged to be apart of something so wonderful...The Afghan is now an important piece of what ties That Bind, connecting us all in the down syndrome community.

CJ is so creative to think of the traveling afghan. We're looking forward to our turn with the afghan. It symbolizes everything that we hold near and dear to our hearts. My son is 22 months old now and he has brought me immeasurable happiness - definitely a positive in our lives too.
