We are potty training again...  and it boggles my mind!  Mayson has sat and gone on the potty for me since she was 3.   BUT, she has never been able to tell me she has to go.  I have bought the potty watch that you can set for either every 30, 60 or 90 minutes.  We are using this tool but she could really care less about it.  :(   She will sit on her little potty in front of the tv for an hour, and then get up and pee on the floor...seriously????????  I am truly wondering if she still doesnt have the muscle control and the connection of the feeling when she has to go.  This is a smart little girl and I just cant put my finger on why she wont TELL me.  Any pointers would be great!!!!!PLEASE!!!

Did you read Carey's post today? How coincidental!! I'm so sorry Mayson's having such a setback. :-( It was a looooong time before Sammi started going unprompted, too. Hang in there!!

We're there too. Except Braska's been able to tell me for a couple years, and sometimes does, but she's not generally accurate about her need to go. I've wondered about her having the right sensation as well. But just this week she has been doing much better, out of nowhere, telling us and then actually going. BUT--if she's watching TV or busy playing, she'll tell me she's dry but then act surprised when she sees that she has already gone. Makes me crazy... but I have to believe we'll get there someday. SOON I hope!

This may be totally different but here is how it went with Ella.....Ella has been poop trained since she was 3 but the pee thing...ugh. I would put her on the potty and she would pee and then 5 minutes later she would pee all over herself again. I just didn't get it. I thought the same thing no sensation, poor muscle control etc. So, at her 5 year well child check her pediatrician was asking about potty training and I told her the problems we were having. She said it just didn't make sense and sent us to a urologist. They sent us to do an ultrasound of Ella's kidneys and bladder. The results came back that Ella had a dialated kidney (which ended up being no big deal) and a small bladder capacity. I said well of course it's small look at her, lol. But they said it is small for her size. So, Ella was put on a medication that expands the capacity of the bladder and also relaxes it. About a week after being on the meds I noticed a HUGE difference. She began telling me when she had to go. I took her off the meds after about 3 weeks. Well, then she got sick and started having problems with her Graves Disease stuff and started having more accidents. URGH. So,last month I put her back on the meds and she is now in panties and has had 1 accident in the past 4 weeks, and that was in the bathroom she just didn't get on the potty fast enough. She does have the issue that once she starts going she can't stop herself. She is even staying dry at night. I know another little guy with Ds that had to go on this medication to but because his bladder was having spasms and a week later potty trained! I think they should sell it over the counter as the potty training miracle drug. LOL. I'm sure it only works if there is a problem but still....may be something to ask your pediatrician about?
